Recently Zeydon opened it’s Vacuum Infusion Workshops and Training Center. The training center is led by David Van Nieuwenhove, who is one of the specialists at Zeydon to employ Vacuum Technology for the construction of the Z60 sailing yachts.
The Vacuum Infusion Process, often called VIP, is a construction process whereby resin is injected into a vacuum bagged dry laminate. This results in a lighter but stronger laminate and a much cleaner working environment. The process is also environmental friendly.
All the Zeydon yachts are build using the VIP process.
Although VIP becomes more popular in the boating industry these last years, it is rarely used in other small industries at this moment. However, these industries could as well benefit from the numerous advantages of this process.
As one of the few boatbuilders in Belgium, fully employing VIP, Zeydon soon noted that it is very difficult to find skilled workers in the Belgian market that know how to employ the vacuum infusion process.
For these two reasons, Zeydon decided to open its own Vacuum Infusion Training Center, located at the Zeydon Shipyard close to Antwerp, Belgium. The aim of the Training center is to allow interested companies to see VIP in action and discuss with them the possibilities to introduce VIP into their production facility. During the training courses, we explain what is required to transfer a classical operation (often handlamination) into a fully functional VIP workshop.
Our workshops also allow people to experiment with VIP before making a decision. These workshops are aimed at company or plant managers who want to have more knowledge about VIP. Finally there’s also the training center that offers hands-on training sessions for workers that want to learn the VIP skills.
